In ourI In the last press release we announced the directors and officers that had been elected at the inaugural meeting.
Our miOur mission statement is to improve relations between the national media, country music industry, and to promote
CountrCountry Music in the UK bringing it to a wider audience. Lee Williams (President and PR),
Malc Allan (Chairman)
and Jim Duncan (Event Organiser)
The first step was to find a venue that would accommodate over a 1000 people for a major Awards ceremony. The British Country Music Awards will be held at The Lakeside Club in Surrey on Sunday 10 October. Further details to follow
The second step was to encourage further industry professionals to come on board and support our activities. The more people already involved in Country Music in the UK, the more chance we can succeed.
The following people have agreed to come on board and a few have agreed their support, but would prefer to remain unnamed at this point. So, in no particular order we welcome Stuart Cameron (Hotdisc), Betty Drummond (Linedancer Magazine), Brigitte Strachan (CMDS), Rob Davis (Cross Country), Marilyn Davis ( UC), Alan Appleton (Southern Country), Roger Wild (Copper Kettle), Jackie Storrar (CMR Nashville & Artist), Allan Watkiss (UK Country Radio, Alan Cackett (Maverick), Duncan Warwick (CMP), Les Evans (NAM), Sylvia McMasters (Sylvan Ents), Chris Jackson (Americana). This list is continually being updated.
It is anticipated that there will be a membership of the BCMHoF Ltd. So, that everyone who is a fan, whether a club promoter, agent, musician, or just a supporter can be part of putting British Country music on the national media map. What is particularly encouraging is that for the first time, the whole of the Country scene has come together to support one joint organisation.
